May bank holiday weekend ideas for activities

Exciting things to do this weekend

Who's excited for the bank holiday weekend?

Hopefully, we will get some lovely sunshine across the UK so that we can get outside and spend time with our loved ones.

If you're not sure how to keep the kids entertained, don't worry! We have put together some fun inspiration and ideas for you to try.

Outdoor adventures

Depending on the weather, consider activities like hiking, biking, camping, or picnicking in a nearby park or nature reserve.

Gardening

If you enjoy gardening, spend some time tending to your garden, planting new flowers or vegetables, or simply enjoying the outdoors. Why not get the swimming pool out if it's sunny? This is great fun for all the family (and is sure to tire the little ones out too!)

Visit a museum or gallery

If you're looking for something that is interesting and educational, we would recommend spending a day exploring a museum, art gallery, or historical site in your area. There are plenty throughout the UK and some of our favourites include The Natural History Museum, Tate Modern, and the National Railway Museum.

Attend a festival

Check out any local festivals, fairs, or events happening over the bank holiday weekend. There are likely to be lots of food festivals, music concerts or even community celebrations.

Day trip

This weekend is the perfect time to take a day trip to a nearby town or city you've been wanting to explore. It will give you the chance to discover new sights, try local cuisine, and immerse yourself in a different atmosphere.

DIY projects

Have home projects that you've been putting off for ages? While you have extra free time, it would be a good idea to tackle some DIY projects around the house. Whether it's redecorating a room, organising a space or decluttering, it can be extremely satisfying to be productive.

Relaxation

Sometimes, the best way to spend a long weekend is by simply relaxing. Treat yourself to a spa day with face masks and a manicure, get cosy and read a book, binge-watch your favourite TV show, or take a long nap to reenergise.

Cooking

This is one for the foodies out there! The bank holiday weekend is a great opportunity to experiment with new recipes or bake some treats to enjoy over the weekend. It's a fun way to spend time in the kitchen and you can indulge in delicious food at the end too!

Family time

Use the bank holiday weekend to spend quality time with family and friends. Whether it's a barbecue in the garden a game night, or simply catching up, cherish these special moments together.
