Ways to celebrate Halloween this weekend
It's nearly time for the spookiest day of the year!
With Halloween just a few days away, most people will be celebrating the event this weekend, whether this is at a frighteningly-good party with friends or trick-or-treating with the kids.
If you are looking for some last minute inspiration, don't worry! We have put together some fun ways to get into the Halloween spirit.
Costume parties
Host or attend a costume party where everyone dresses up in creative and spooky outfits. Costume contests can add an element of competition and fun.
Trick-or-treating
If you have little ones, take them trick-or-treating in your neighbourhood. Make sure an adult is present, you stick to places you know and don't eat all of the sweets at once!
Pumpkin carving
It's a long-running tradition to carve pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns at Halloween. You can have a carving party with friends or family, and then display your creations outside with candles inside for extra eeriness.
Haunted house
Head to a haunted house attraction, or display your own decorations at home for guests to explore. This can include fake fake spider webs, ghosts, witches, skeletons, and bats. You can put as much effort into this as you want, and go all-out if you love this time of year!
Movie night
Have a Halloween-themed movie night with friends or family. Pick some classic horror films or family-friendly Halloween movies.
Scary storytelling
Gather around a campfire or indoors and tell ghost stories or read from scary books.
Halloween games
Organise themed games and activities, such as bobbing for apples, a Halloween scavenger hunt, or a mummy-wrapping contest.
Food and drinks
Prepare Halloween-themed snacks and beverages, like "witches' brew" punch, pumpkin-shaped cookies, or "eyeball" meatballs.
Visit a pumpkin patch
Spend the day at a pumpkin patch to pick out your own pumpkins and enjoy other seasonal activities like hayrides and corn mazes.
Costume parades
Some cities host costume parades, so check if there's one in your area to participate in or watch.
Day of the Dead
Explore and learn about Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) traditions, which often include creating colourful altars and remembering loved ones who have passed away.
Get crafty
Take the time to get creative arts and crafts. You can make your own decorations, costumes, or even paint pumpkins.
Frightening farm visits
Many farms offer haunted hayrides or corn mazes during the Halloween season.
Visit a theme park
A lot of UK theme parks run special scare fest events where dressed up characters will chase your around the grounds. This is not for the faint hearted so only do this if you have a strong stomach!
Remember to stay safe and adhere to local guidelines, especially if you're participating in activities with others. Whether you prefer a spooky, fun, or family-friendly celebration, there are countless ways to enjoy Halloween.
