Spring cleaning hacks you need to try
Planning to have a Spring clean? It’s the ideal time to do this as although the sun is starting to make an appearance, it is still switching between hot, cold and rainy.
We love having a Spring clean because not only does it make your house more presentable and create more free space, it also gives you the satisfaction of doing something worthwhile.
And it doesn't have to be a one-person job! If you want to share the load, you could get your family involved which is a great way to spend time together and bond too!
Check out some of our favourite Spring cleaning hacks below…
Clear out your storage spaces
If your attic or cupboards are filled to the brim with things you don’t need (because let's face it, we all have that one random drawer!) then this is a good place to start. By throwing away anything that you no longer use or are no longer needed, you can free up space to store other things.
You may also have holiday decorations packed away that have gathered dust and might need replacing completely. Now is the perfect time to check them as there is plenty of time before Christmas and you can probably grab a bargain in the spring and summer sales.
And don’t forget to check dates on medication and items in your freezer, as these often get forgotten about!
Invest in some lemons
Did you know that lemons can be used for cleaning? The citric acid found in this type of fruit is known to be antibacterial and antiseptic, which means it kills germs and bacteria while leaving a lovely fragrance. They can also be used on areas where there is mould, mildew or rust as it can help to remove these inconvenient household problems.
Another top tip is to use lemons to clean your microwave. All you need to do is fill a bowl with water, add two halves of lemons after squeezing the juice into the bowl, then microwave it for around 5 minutes. This will loosen the oil and grease build up so that you can easily wipe it away from the interior of your microwave. Plus it leaves it smelling fresh and citrusy too!
Declutter your wardrobe
Another thing we would recommend doing is looking for your wardrobe and working out what you no longer need and/or want. We often leave clothes and shoes in there that we haven’t worn in years and don’t plan on wearing again just because it is easier, we forget or we don’t have time.
Set a date for going through your wardrobe and stick to it. There are plenty of charity shops out there which will be very grateful for your old clothes and shoes, as it helps to finance their amazing causes. You will feel much better once you have decluttered and made space, and you could even treat yourself to something new if you need it.
We hope that you have found these Spring cleaning hacks useful. We would love to hear any suggestions you have so feel free to drop them in the comments on this post!
