Fun Christmas Eve activities for all the family
Christmas Eve is only a few days away and if you're anything like us, you'll be starting to get really excited!
If you're looking for ways to keep the kids (or yourself!) entertained, why not try some of the fun activities in this blog?
Decorate the Christmas tree
If you haven't already, gather your family or friends to decorate the Christmas tree together. It's a wonderful way to bond and create a festive atmosphere.
Bake treats
Spend some time baking your favourite Christmas goodies, which may include cakes, yule logs, gingerbread men, mince pies or cookies. There's plenty of choice for recipes and it's a tasty and fun activity for all ages.
Attend a candlelight service
Many churches hold candlelight services on Christmas Eve as a way of celebrating the religious meaning. You could attend a service if you want to experience the true meaning of Christmas and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
Christmas movie marathon
Have a cosy and snug night in with a Christmas movie marathon. Choose your top festive films, make some hot cocoa, and enjoy a relaxing evening in front of the TV. We would recommend The Grinch, Elf or Polar Express - which are all family-friendly too!
Reading stories
Gather the family and take turns reading Christmas stories or poems. This is a great way to share the holiday spirit and create lasting memories.
See Christmas lights
Take a walk in the fresh winter air and explore your neighbourhood or nearby areas to see the Christmas lights. Many communities go all out with elaborate light displays, creating a magical experience for you and the kids.
Listening to tunes
Create a festive atmosphere by playing your favourite Christmas tunes. Sing along, dance, and enjoy the music that brings joy to the season.
Prepare a special dinner
Plan a special Christmas Eve dinner with perhaps something less extravagant than what you will be cooking the next day. A popular choice is to have a buffet or nibbles, which could include crisps, dips, sandwiches, pizza and more.
It's important to check dietary requirements beforehand, so everyone has something to enjoy!
Open one gift
Many families, especially with children, open a present on Christmas Eve. This helps to build up the excitement for what's to come on Christmas Day
Leave treats out for Santa
Another popular Christmas Eve tradition is to leave biscuits or mince pies and milk out for Santa (or a sherry if he prefers). Don't forget to leave a carrot out for Rudolph too as you don't want him to feel left out!
Whatever you decide to do on Christmas Eve, we hope you have the most magical time making memories with your loved ones.
