DIY crafts to try this summer

DIY Summer Crafts: Creative Projects to Brighten Up Your Home

Summer is the perfect time to get creative and add a touch of vibrance and character to your home.

Whether you want to clear out clutter, make new décor or redecorate your space completely, there are plenty of fun activities to keep you entertained during the warmer months.

Here are some inspirational DIY crafts and projects to try out with friends, family or even on your own if you fancy.

Seashell wreath

Collect seashells from your local beach on your next sunny visit. You can then arrange and glue the seashells onto a wreath, creating a beautiful and eye-catching piece to hang on your front door or walls.

Fruit serving trays

Slice up lemons, limes, and oranges and let them dry out completely. Once dry, arrange the citrus slices on a wooden or clear acrylic tray and seal with resin or a clear varnish.

These fruity trays are great for serving refreshing drinks at BBQs, garden parties and other events.

Ice lolly stick planters

Take a few ice pop sticks (after eating of course!) and glue them together to create miniature planters. You can then paint them in bright, seasonal themes and decorate them with beads, twine, or ribbons.

These cute planters can hold small succulents or cacti and add a pop of colour to your windowsill or desk.

Mason jar lanterns

Paint mason jars in beach-inspired colours like blue, green, or sandy beige and once dry, wrap them in twine or rope around the mouth of the jar and secure it with glue.

You can add extra magic by placing a tea light candle or LED candle inside the jar, and enjoy the mesmerising glow it creates.

DIY painted doormat

Start by finding a plain doormat and then use stencils or freehand painting to create a summer-themed design. We would suggest putting phrases like "Hello Summer" or adding fun patterns and motifs like flip-flops, ice cream cones, or beach umbrellas.

Make sure you use weather-resistant outdoor paint to ensure the design lasts.

Macrame plant hangers

Learn basic macrame knots and create stylish plant hangers for your indoor or outdoor plants. Use bright macrame cord or jute twine to make intricate patterns and designs then place your plants in windows or from hooks to bring a bohemian touch to your space.

Floral centrepieces

Arrange fresh or faux flowers in a colourful vase or mason jar to create a beautiful summer centrepiece for your dining table or coffee table. Incorporate vibrant blooms like sunflowers, daisies or wildflowers to capture the essence of nature.

Remember, the possibilities are endless when it comes to DIY crafts. Feel free to add your own personal touches, experiment with different materials, and let your creativity shine through.

Enjoy the process and the beautiful results that will bring an iconic, stylish vibe to your home!
